"Pros: Convenient location for our purposes (visited Dodengang, Ypres, and Plopsaland). Also, Lo is a nice little town to visit.
Friendly host. Beautiful property with modern design. I really liked the kitchen (fully equipped) and living room. Nice garden and kids loved the presence of chickens.
Number of bathrooms and toilets was sufficient for our group.
Appreciated the complementary wine, biscuits, and museum discount. Also liked the amenities that made the property family friendly (board games, baby chair, cot, step for toddler to wash hands). There was even a pull cart and a little playroom in the attic (which, however, we did not use).
Overall, a good option for large families for a short or long vacation.
Cons: The stairs. Not so much the presence of them that I was aware of, but their design. Having two toddlers, I was uneasy letting them explore the house beyond the living room and I was also uneasy during the night, despite the presence of safety railings. The main staircase was ok, but the railing could be a hazard for the 1.5 year old. There was a smaller staircase that led to the playroom in the attic that I found a bit too adventurous... no railing, but a short wall and the playroom attic was close to an additional space, separated by a little door, that had no railing at all. So, I did not even mention the play area to the kids!
No sink in the two toilets. Not sure if this was due to unfinished business or whether this is a Belgian practice (I have come across similar toilets in other apartments), but there was no sink to wash hands in the toilets. This was particularly vexing for the upstairs toilet, as the three available sinks (bathrooms and kitchen) were downstairs.
Also, I found it strange that linen and towels (basic items for a comfortable stay) needed to be requested ahead and were charged extra." ~Efthymia
