All citizens of Chile, regardless of the duration of their stay, and all foreigners who stay in the country for at least 60 consecutive days may have to pay the national sales tax (19%) when checking out. To obtain a tax exemption, foreign citizens must, upon entry, pay for their stay in foreign currency (not in Chilean pesos) and present a valid passport along with the migration card they received upon entering the country. If a person subject to paying the tax and another exempt from the same share a room, the rate may be applied to the entire room.
Payment before arrival via bank transfer is required. The property will contact you after you book to provide instructions. Based on local tax laws, Chilean citizens (and foreigners staying more than 59 days in Chile) must pay an additional fee of 19%. Please note that for tax exemption travelers must pay in US dollars and have to present the migration card they are given when they arrive to the country.
