"Pros: What a wonderful stay! We loved the location. It was peaceful, very safe, and a short walk to all the action. There's a security guard at reception 24/7 and no one can enter without the guard allowing them in first. All of the guards were courteous, helpful, and kind. Maria, our excellent host, made communicating with her easy. She was fantastic about giving us all the info we needed before our stay, checking in with us periodically during our stay to see if we needed anything, and following up with us at the end of our stay to see if there was any further help we might need. The apartment itself is huge and immaculately maintained. Luz, who takes care of it, was absolutely amazing! She takes pride in her work and it shows. Her warm welcoming smile when we arrived set the tone for our vacation. And her customer service could not have been better (e.g. when we arrived, hours before check-in, she allowed us to store our luggage in the apartment, gave us a tour, and gave us space to change our clothes since we had spent almost 24 hours traveling; and not once did she make us feel as if we were inconveniencing her (though we must have been, lol). Also after check out, she let us store our bags in the unit again so we didn't have to drag them around Cartagena for the 3-4 hours we had before heading back to the airport.) Luz was very gracious, helpful, understanding, sweet, and kind... we so appreciated her!! We felt entirely at home. FYI, we recommend paying the extra fee at the reception desk during check-in for access to the pool, gym, and jacuzzi. Out of the three, we only used the pool but it was well-worth it because there is nothing quite like slipping into a lovely pool on a hot Cartagena afternoon. We also thoroughly enjoyed hanging out on the private rooftop balcony which has beautiful flowers. Overall, Casa Virrey Eslava provides excellent value and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic place to stay in the Walled City! Cons: We liked everything! The only suggestion we have would be to include a couple of pool chaise lounge chairs on the rooftop balcony. The chaises by the pool are great, but having private chaises on the apartment's rooftop in addition would be next level - especially because the sun hits just right on the roof longer than it does by the pool. Also, if you're someone who likes super hot showers you may not want to stay in the bedroom on the 3rd floor as the shower in that en suite did not get above tepid. The shower on the 2nd floor was warmer." ~Vayram

"Pros: Spacious apartment, nice air co. WiFi works well. Cons: When we arrived the security guard that was working didn't want to let us in - for him was hard to understand English. We tried Spanish, but he still didn't know that we supposed to arrive. I informed hosts through booking at what time we will arrive 1 day before arrival- but they don't bother to inform the security guard. Washing machine wasn't working." ~Mariia
