"Pros: Our honeymoon suite was in a separate building that had extra space around it, extra light from the roof, spacious bathroom and had all the amenities we needed. Good quality of the buildout and nice style and decoration, nice garden with some interesting wildlife. The area around the property was lush and there was plenty of nature. Clean and maintained. Location was good for exploring surroundings, with bus stop near by and located in between two major parks. Outside the crowded town. A number of beaches with different characteristics to choose from. Owner very skilled, organised and available to help, including with advices for things like onward travel options. Cons: Space in the bedroom was smallish, bedding/sheets felt of lower quality. Breakfast was very basic (processed foods) relative to the price paid. No secluded/swimmable/pristine beaches nearby. Things felt a bit too organized at times (breakfast schedule, check-in timing), so the stay wasn’t as relaxed as I imagined it. The lack of bigger private areas or amenities like e.g. hammocks also didn’t give us the vibe we were looking for. Also, keep in mind that since it was a rural location, there might be noise from wildlife at night that might interfere with sleep. Also, specific to Puerto Viejo was that it was crowded, touristy and expensive." ~Stoimen
