"Pros: Peaceful and laid-back environment where one can chill. After request, excursions were arranged. Highlight was the felucca ride! This is in a non-commercial “Nubian Village.” I enjoyed a fish dinner. Also, sitting on the bank of the Nile is indescribable. Cons: Mix-up with driver not at airport upon arrival. It was not summer so my not being able to turn on AC wasn’t a big deal. Host is laid-back so you have to ask for what you want." ~Clarence

"Pros: Sa'eed was nice and helpful. I had breakfast on the roof terrace, where a nice view opened to Agha Khan Mausoleum, the Botanical (Kitchener) Island and the elephant-shaped rocks along the banks. The house is on the west side of the island, while public ferry from the mainland arrives on the eastern side, from where the accommodation can be reached by a ten to fifteen minutes' walk. Cons: Location was hard to find, I asked locals who could not understand English at all. Eventually I found one who phoned him, then Sa'eed turned up and led me there." ~Tamás

"Pros: This place is a gem! This is a really unique option if you need one or two nights in Aswan. The hotel arranged for a car to pick us up at the airport and then brought us to the pier. Then the hotel has its own little boat that comes and takes you directly to the property. It was really easy and no hassle. The rooftop restaurant has beautiful views, and the food is great. The property is incredibly clean and very well-maintained. Breakfast is included and had a variety of local foods. The staff are super friendly. Most importantly, the air conditioner works perfectly!" ~Lisuk

"Pros: Ajwa Guesthouse is a small, very new guesthouse. The air conditioning and water heater are excellent and the room was very clean. There is no sign on the guesthouse but it is next door to the Nile View Guesthouse and they are run by the same family, so study the photo of the Ajwa Guesthouse and if no one is there when you arrive, just go next door to the Nile View and someone will help you. You can also arrange for the host to pick you up if you have whatsapp. Guests at Ajwa can eat at the waterside restaurant and patio at the Nile View, which is where the photos are taken. The atmosphere is very laid back with no hassle. It is a lovely, relaxing place to stay." ~Barbara

"Pros: If you want a unique experience then this is the place for you. Unlike a stay at a normal hotel, this is something out of the ordinary. Mohammad, the owner, is amazing and ready to cater for anything required. The food in the restaurant is home cooked and the best food we had in Egypt. Highly recommend it. Cons: Nothing" ~Rajesh
