"Pros: Carpe Diem is a beautiful hotel in the centre of Archanes. The host, Eleni, met us and helped us to park not too far away. The room was stunning with a splendid bed and bathroom. A wonderful place! Cons: Archanes itself is a little over-rated in the Lonely Planet guide to Crete. There are wonderful things to do around it, like visit Nikos Kalantzakis' house and go to vineyards (plus Knossos!), but we expected more narrow tree-line streets and more specialist shops. "Pros: The property was very well located, very clean and well equiped. The traditional house was.quiet and charming with it’s own courtyard and located near to Archanes central square where we ate each night in the open air. Plenty of good restaurants to choose from. Our host was easy to contact and very helpful. A great base from which to explore Crete. Cons: Nothing" ~Sally
