"Pros: Stayed in an apartment at Renatas Villas Karpathos for a week this June. The owner Niki is really helpful and friendly, apartment was very spacious, beautifully kept & clean with plenty of storage space, comfortable bed and couch in living room, oven & cooking facilities that worked well and fantastic views from my terrace even being on the ground floor.
I would recommend you do ask for an 1st floor room if possible as the views from balcony on the upper floor must be as incredible as swimming in Renatas infinity swimming pool which is bigger than it looks and as you swim you look down on the town and across towards to the mountains opposite. There is so much outdoor space with the property having its own chapel & saints day celebrations, there is also a barbecue area & washing machine.
Although others say car is essential if your young and fit you can manage without and still get around and see the Island, bus station 15-20 minute walk, harbour and town centre 25-30 minute all uphill back, kept me fit, for most, car would be necessary. This really is a beautiful place with amazing views and I don't see how location could be bettered, hope to be back in Karpathos and Renatas Villas soon.
Cons: The air conditioning was only in the living room, no air con unit in bedroom, this wasn't really a problem for me as it cooled down my bedroom from living room although it wasn't so hot, if warmer may have been more difficult sleeping. In the future, I hope Renatas Villas can install air con units in bedroom and make there beautiful place even better." ~Matthew
"Pros: This might well be in my top 3 places to stay.
- Location close to the road so super easy to drive anywhere. Dedicated parking inside the gates, long driveway so no noise in the house.
- 5 min to Karpathos town, a supermarket nearby.
- Outdoor space with a pool and a view is large and comfortable to be in. No close neighbors so the place really feels your own - great for escaping a big city…or just stargazing.
- The interior looks very traditional, with quite peculiar space separation (arches and raised podiums instead of beds) and lovely decor (some Greek string instrument, Singer sewing machine, photos etc).
- Large kitchen with all the essentials.
- Two bathrooms, yay!
- Three ACs (albeit the one in the living room was acting up).
Cons: These are minor points:
- There are no doors between kitchen, bedroom and the living room - it’s a part of that traditional layout, but also means that sleeping when someone’s up can be difficult.
- A number of stray cats love the place. They are cute but also needy and can be annoying at times. Whatever their meowing conveys, they AREN’T starving or in need of food.
- Ants are around and will find unpacked food in no time, stow everything away.
- A dishwasher could have been handy." ~Oleg
