"Pros: We found an excellent restaurant in Kounoupidiana, and a very good bar/restaurant near the apartment. There is a good bus service to the centre of Chania. Sometimes every 20 minutes. No Chania parking problems! There are shops and supermarkets nearby. The host/manager was excellent: responding immediately to any need or problem. Cons: The location is much more urban than the photos of views suggest. But its a short drive to rural areas and beaches." ~Trevor

"Pros: The view over the countryside to the sea was impressive and every day we really enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the planes, including military ones, flying overhead to or from Chania airport. Dimos met us at the apartment, having sent details including a link to googlemaps to help us find it. He gave us fruit, wine, soft drinks and water which we really appreciated and he messaged me on WhatsApp every few days to check everything was going well. The apartment was beautifully clean and well furnished with a really comfortable sofa and beds. The aircon worked very well and so did the blinds and shutters which blocked out the sun and the heat on some very hot days ( over 35 degrees). There are plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby within walking distance. We really liked the Arodou, the food and the staff were all excellent. There are several big supermarkets within five to ten minutes drive, the Synka, Chalkidakis, and Lidl, petrol stations, plus smaller shops selling fruit and vegetables. This really is a comfortable and well equipped place in a great location. It's near the centre of the peninsula with sandy beaches in all directions within ten minutes drive. For us this place was excellent and we would love to come here again. Cons: The parking was tricky till we got the hang of it, because our parking space was under the building and you had to drive down a quite steep slope into the spot. Once we realised it was best to reverse down slowly at an angle then straighten up, it was fine, but on the first day the bumper of the car, which was set low, touched the floor and it would be easy to damage the underside of the car if you drove down the slope too quickly.
