"Pros: The road outside the hotel is very busy as it is the main road to Rethimno. It is not a very built up area, both business and local residents live side to side nicely. A short walk to the supermarket on one side and a 10 mins walk to the main road restaurants, cafes and shops on the other. The bus stops are also very close. We had a car so we did not use the local bus.

Cons: As the road is used by truck, cars, moped and lorries alike you need to be really careful when you cross the road when in sandals and flip flops. They tend not to stop at zebra crossings even if you are obviously waiting to cross.
The bus stops are mainly under trees but we had a car so we did not use public transport at all. Lots of tourists used them but the wait under the July sun would not have worked for us. Carry water with you if you decide to use the local bus."
