"Pros: The location was excellent for anyone who wishes to explore the Rethymno region of Crete. The hosts were very warm and welcoming and treated us like family. The apartment was very clean and reminiscent of an old farm house but not lacking any comforts. Vassilis and Maria (the hosts) have a fully-furnished apartment and catered to all our needs. They also brought us fresh tomatoes, local raki and other goodies for us to enjoy
Cons: Everything was perfect, there was nothing to be upset about this apartment, the location or the hosts." ~Giovanni
"Pros: Roustika is a charming, friendly, traditional Cretan village, but the house has been completely remodeled with all of the modern conveniences. Though remote, a bakery delivery van comes to the nearby Cafe every day between 11:30AM and 12:15PM (honks once on arrival) except Sunday, and a green grocery delivery truck comes to the Cafe every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday between 9:30 and 10:30AM (plays his radio while driving but not while parked). There is a tiny market that sells eggs, milk, beer, potatoes, etc., but everyone takes an afternoon nap until 6PM. There’s a cheese factory on the left before you get to the trash and recycling bins (not glass.) The nearby village Agio Constantino is an easy 2 km walk, and although called a Mini Market, has a good butcher, frozen fish and seafood, and pretty much everything you need, with a bakery next door. There’s a bus to Rethymno Monday and Wednesday (where you can drop off your glass recycling in the yellow bin) about 8:45 to 9AM for 2.50 each way, returns 3:15PM from the bus station (not where you are dropped off.)
Cons: You can’t put your used toilet paper in the toilet, it has to go in the trash, but that is common in Europe. There is a sprayer attached to the toilet for hygiene." ~Nancy
