"Pros: This is the perfect place to stay if you want to be off the beaten path and don’t mind driving when you want to go into town (20-30 minutes). It was quiet, charming, and had everything we needed. Nikos is a truly fantastic host that will have you feeling like part of his family. If you’re looking for ideas for excursions or restaurants he will help you with that too! Definitely ask him for suggestions, we had a travel agent but our favorite parts of the trip we only knew about because of Nikos! Cons: It was still quite warm during our stay (highs in the 80s) but the pool was freezing! Couldn’t get in." ~Chelsea

"Pros: Great house in the little village of Gerolakkos. We rented it for two weeks, and it was the most relaxed vacation we had in years. Our two boys (8 and 4)loved the cottage, especially the swimming pool and the jacuzzi :). From the terrace(and jacuzzi) you have a great view of the mountains surrounding the village. It's very private with a lot of outdoor space for living outdoors. The house itself isn't big but for a family of 4-5, it's perfect! The owners ( Maritina & Thodoris ) are really nice and make sure you have a great time. They asked us every day if we needed something, but they also leave you be if you don't want a lot of contact. They came and cooked with us one evening, it was really nice and our kids really loved making their own pizza from scratch with Thodoris. He also made us a traditional Cretan lamb stew, it was very delicious as were the pizzas. We rented a car for two weeks because it's about an half hour drive from Chania and there are no big stores closer than Chania. But it's a beautiful drive to Chania trough the mountains. Amazing views. We loved the pool and the jacuzzi and we loved the house and the hosts! When you're chilling on the terrace in the evening you only hear goats, sheep, dogs, geese and birds of prey and it's so lovely and quiet to hear nothing but that.. sometimes you can hear greek music played by people down in the village or families coming together to share a meal. Very authentic and as I said before, we truly loved it. Crete is a beautiful island with beautiful beaches and little villages to explore :) Cons: Nothing :)" ~Ruud

"Pros: A traditional villa just 20 minutes from Chania, perfectly equipped from the kitchen to the bathroom, bedrooms, and living room, everything is designed for optimal comfort. Located in a picturesque setting, where the only sound is the gentle ringing of sheep bells in the surroundings. A true haven of peace. The breathtaking view and enchanting landscape are stunning at any time of the day. The pool and gardens surrounding the house are meticulously maintained. We were able to completely disconnect and fully enjoy the beauty of Crete. A big thank you to Sofia, who was incredibly attentive and kind throughout our stay. This rental is an absolute gem.
