"Pros: The location is fantastic; you have the Island to yourself. Sulai, the host, is great; he played a big part in making our experience enjoyable. The excursions are affordable and awesome. Plus, they have a covered boat, which is a big plus in Raja Ampat.
Cons: The food has a strange taste and smell. We think it might be because of where their Kitchen is next to the Mangrove swamp. Also, you can tell the facilities are getting old and need an update. They would invest just a bit in updating the toilets, expanding them, and updating the rooms. (for example, the mosquito nets have holes; some were fixed with ducktape and I sewed mine, so new Mosquito nets would be nice)" ~Alexandra
"Pros: Great location if you are looking for isolation.
Food was tasty and varied. Chicken, fish noodles, vegetables, fruit...and of course rice! We even had cheesecake one day. The hosts tried to be as varied as they could.
While we were there 4 nights all, the other guests 6 others besides us, were very friendly and thoughtful and easy going. We all made sure that everyone got enough food and if there was less food, usually fruit or breakfast, then we were all fair and it was equally distributed!!
They had peanut butter, jam, and chocolate spread. Extra treat!!! I was having a hard time eating chicken or fish ( my issue not the quality of the food prepared) so the peanut butter was a nice protien to have. Nice flavors and seasonings on the food prepared.
This was out second homestay and they kept things clean, they had tile in the shower and toilet which made it easier to keep clean. I liked that they had water buckets at all entrances, dining area, bathrooms, bungalows. I borrowed the dining area broom to sweep out the bungalow.
The reef out front was good, snorkeling many times during the day.
My husband dove with Pam Divers and he said in comparison to other areas he dove during our 21 days in Raja Ampat, Pam Islands was the clearest, coral in greatest condition and the most ocean life. If we had known this,we would have stayed in this area longer.
Hosts were polite and helpful, we were able to communicate well enough. Their children played freely around the property.
They have 3 waterfront bungalows with a 4th being built and 2 beach bungalows.
We looked at.pictures and read reviews so expectations of the property were standard.
Cons: The bungalows. My opinion for being there only 4 days out of 365. Instead of focusing on building more bungalows as a priority, they should keep up the repairs on the existing ones first. 2 stormy rainy nights and the roof was leaking, both nights. They did get up on the rood during the rain and make repair attempts. we had to move the bed around to avoid the dripping, but we could only move it so far and had a bucket on the bed. Other cabins have had roof leaking issues also.
I'm not sure if they can do anything about the mold. Once the walls get wet from the rain, it doesnt really get a chance to dry out, so the walls have mold. I don't know if this was in other bungalows, I didn't ask other guests about this issue.
I understand the environmental conditions are hard on the bungalows, but maintenance is important to keep guests comfortable enough to want to stay." ~Andrew
"Pros: Karin and I (Markus) stayed at Andau Dive Resort for 16 days.
Incredible experiences.
This island is breathtakingly beautiful, we had it almost to ourselves.
The friendly staff Tahil, Aderia and the dive guide Ross and Arnold were super helpful and responded to all our wishes,
We felt like one big family right from the start.
I would like to return to this place sooner rather than later.
The scenery and the underwater world are out of this world!
We will see you" ~Markus
