"Pros: Good value for money: you'll get a flat for the price of a hotel room. Definetely reccomended if you're a small family on a budget: the place is half-way between Milan and Lake Como, in a nice farm with lots of animals (goats, donkeys, horses...), but clean. The area is more or less in the countryside, not far from Merate's town center, but you'll need a car or a bike if you want to get around. There is also an 'agriturismo' in the premises, which serves locally produced food.
Cons: The walls between the flats are a bit thin, you can hear the neighbours; luckily mine was the front flat of a sort of terraced houses complex and the bedroom was on the outer side, so it didn't really matter."
