"Pros: The room was quite clean and nice! As soon as I checked in I just relaxed in the room until it was time for my reservation for the shared bath. The bath was clean and allowed me to relax for the night. The ryokan breakfast was also very tasty. Definitely worth the value. I love how we had options on when the breakfast would be served (7:30, 8:00, or 8:30)
There’s a convenience store nearby with a great selection of snacks.
This experience was overall amazing after being overstimulated from the crowds in Tokyo and Kyoto. I was able to walk around the area and it was so peaceful with barely anyone around.
If you have big suitcases, I would highly recommend renting the coin lockers at the station and just bringing an overnight bag to Bingoya.
If I stop by Kurashiki next trip, I would love to book Bingoya again.
Cons: Some slight inconvenience with the construction next door, but I kinda just tuned it out after an hour.
Going here from Shin-Kurashiki was a bit of a trek if you didn’t rent a car. Buses were infrequent. Though, it wasn’t that bad. There’s a bus stop a few meters from Bingoya, and there’s one that’s 10-15 mins walk away. We ended up catching the bus that’s stops near Bingoya but had to wait over an hour near the train station." ~Leila
