"Pros: The apartment was close to a ton of restaurants, shops, and a combini. The beds were comfy, tall ceilings were a plus. Lots of natural light in the unit. The kitchen was well appointed. It was great to have 2 bathroom sinks to get ready.
Cons: While it was technically very close to Grand Hirafu base, the 20 minute walk to the gondola was entirely uphill. We were gassed before we even started snowboarding. The steps leading to the bedrooms and bathroom were slippery and very steep, we did not feel safe going up and down. No elevator so you have to lug your luggage up and down steep steps up to the 2nd floor unit and up the death trap stairs within the unit. The living room would smell of kerosene and the staff had no explanation for it, but provided an air purifier. The toilet did not have a bidet which was unusual for Japan. The pillows on the couch had questionable stains. Finally, the unit was so HOT. No matter what heat setting we tried, we could not get to a comfortable temperature."
