"Pros: We asked for western style beds and we got it, in all three rooms. Meals were good. The waiter serving our meals was really good, patient polite and helpful. Cons: The Onsen was small relatively speaking, comparing to other hotels in the area." ~Frederick

"Pros: Great location in Mount Aso in the heart of town. The onsen is a sulfur bath which leaves your skin feeling refreshed and Moisturised. There is a very conducive sitting room with fireplace and ground coffee provided. We were able to fit a family of 5 in the tatami room which is very unusual for hotels / ryokans. The tatami room is very comfortable. Nepalese staff are all English speaking and can help with translation. Cons: It’s best if you stay over a weekend because a fantastic kaiseki meal is provided on weekends but for weekdays there is simpler fare." ~Andrew

"Pros: Lovely interiors and gardens and nice range of private / shared onsen. Very warm and comfortable room with views of the mountains around. Friendly and helpful staff, very nice breakfast. Convenient for walking into the town centre for izakayas etc. Cons: Not a problem for us, but less a rural location and more edge of a small town, depending on what you are looking for." ~Barry

"Pros: The very best Ryokan, I've ever stayed in. The staffs were friendly and very helpful. Room was super comfy with a private outdoor bath, very spacious. There were 10 private onsens to choose from, which required no reservation, and also public onsens situating indoor and outdoor to enjoy. The buffet breakfast and especially dinner were outstanding with a great variety, including beef yakiniku, steaks, free-flow beers, what a delicacy! Worth every Yen spent. There were also gashapons, claw machine games, table tennis to enjoy, and a small mini mart to shop from. We enjoyed every minute of our stay.
