"Pros: This was an isolated ryokan by a river with traditional indoor onset and Japanese only meals. About 15km from Koyasan it was the closest to the expensive alternatives in Koyasan that we could find, though the very narrow mountain roads take about 40mins to cover, and are best done during daylight hours.
Cons: The heating in public areas was provided by large paraffin burners which gave of an awful smell that caught at the back of your throat."
