"Pros: Yuki-san is the most knowledgeable guide we had in Yakushima Island. We ate kaiseki at her pension and were very touched by the thoughtfulness of having so many local ingredients and flavors in a meal that Yuki-san and her husband crafted from their farm and fishing catch of the day. She was also very flexible about letting us borrow towels and a sarong in order to go to the ocean onsen, which was truly above and beyond. We slept very well at their beautiful place and had wonderful neighbors in other guests, who were all quiet and thoughtful. It was also very useful to have a washer on hand, because we ran out of socks at this point in our journey." ~Katherine
