Cons: The breakfast that was included was not very good. The shower smelt like sewage. The staff only opened up very late in the morning and locked up early in the evening. There is obviously a captive market in Punta Allen with not many options."

You can go fly fishing, spinning and reef. All activities come at an extra cost. The modern villas at Grand Slam Fishing Lodge Tulum feature a private balcony or terrace overlooking the sea. The spacious lounge includes flat-screen satellite TV, a DVD player and an iPod docking station. The Grand Slam’s restaurant specializes in seafood, and you can enjoy a drink on a Balinese bed next to the outdoor pool. There is also a bar with swing seats.
