Located on the west coast of New Zealand's North Island, Ariki Backpackers is just 100 metres from New Plymouth's shops, pubs and bus terminal. It offers a restaurant, a tour desk and a communal kitchen. Situated above Icons Sports Bar, New Plymouth Ariki Backpackers is 2 minutes' walk from well-known coastal art piece The Wind Wand. It is 6 minutes' drive from both Stadium Taranaki and Brooklands Zoo. This friendly hostel offers a guest lounge with satellite TV, a communal kitchen and a large outdoor patio with BBQ facilities. There are internet facilities, a DVD library and a guest laundry. The tour desk books mountain trips, surfing, farm tours, seal watching and cultural tours. Ariki Backpackers offers dormitories and private rooms. Rooms with private bathroom facilities are available. There are female-only and male-only dorms on offer.

Please inform Ariki Backpackers in advance of your expected arrival time. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly with the contact details provided in your confirmation. A damage deposit of NZD 30 is required on arrival. This will be collected as a cash payment. You should be reimbursed on check-out. Your deposit will be refunded in full in cash, subject to an inspection of the property.

Children of any age are allowed. Children up to and including 2 years old stay for free when using an available cot. Children up to and including 12 years old stay for NZD 15 per person per night when using an existing bed. Children up to and including 12 years old stay for NZD 15 per person per night when using an available extra bed. Any type of extra bed or child's cot/crib is upon request and needs to be confirmed by management. Supplements are not calculated automatically in the total costs and will have to be paid for separately during your stay.
