"Pros: This is a nice house managed by Stay Waiheke who are responsive and great to deal with. The house itself is very nice. Everything works, was in good condition, the decor is lovely, its very well equipped and things like towels and toiletries are of very good quality. This is nice spacious house, we had an older teenager who basically set up in the basement /lower level and had that to herself, the adults used the main floor of the house where there is a lovely master suite with ensuite and a double bedroom. The bathrooms were really good, large and spacious and had some heating. The laundry area is excellent with a super machine.
Cons: The outside of the house looks a bit neglected, there was an old kayak sitting around and the patio areas hadn't been swept for a while. There were some industrious wasps creating nests. The hot tub was in a tricky position and didn't look maintained so we didn't use it. The lower level of the house smelled of damp and while it improved a bit over the 2 days we were there, the smell didn't go away. Some of this is easily rectified. The worst thing for us was the a/c. The single unit is in the sitting room and it simply couldn't cope. So sleep was difficult even with the windows open. Lastly a couple of things to be aware of if you have mobility issues. The house is up a steep hill which means you have a challenging walk from the beach to the house. The drive is very steep and the parking is tricky to navigate. The lock box for keys is located very low down and has a very stiff mechanism so you need decent knees/back and finger power to open it."
