"Pros: The house is beautifully designed, and makes excellent use of the space available. Externally it has the traditional architecture of a building in the aldeia branca. Internally it is modern, clean and comfortable. The house is very well equipped, including a fully equipped kitchen, coffee maker, broadband, TV etc. Carrapateira is a beautiful little village with 2 great restaurants, a wonderful minimercado, and fascinating history. The village is perfectly located for the surf beaches of the south west Alentejo. Cons: I'm sure that no-one will make the same mistake that my partner & I made by thinking that this house is in Aljezur. It's not in Aljezur, it's in a little village about 20kms south of Aljezur (Carrapateira), albeit a fascinating village nonetheless. Carrapateira is a lovely little village, but this property is in a (currently) unlovely corner of the village. The (large) house next door is being rebuilt from the ground up, whilst noise is not a problem, it didn't make for an attractive view from the terrace. Additionally, buildings on 2 sides are in a state of dereliction, whilst this is the reality of a gentrifying village, again it did not make for an attractive vista. The property is right on the street, and therefore people inadvertently look straight into the property from the street. As such, we had to have the curtains closed/blinds drawn to retain some privacy. After a day of living with curtains/blinds drawn we found it rather depressing. If you don't mind people having direct visual access to your everyday life this will not be a problem for you. Builders are constantly walking around the property Mon-Fri 8am-5pm, they have to do this to carry out the work on the building site next door. This means that builders are constantly outside of the windows/door - it can feel a little intrusive." ~Daniel_uk_hk_bkk
