"Pros: Excellent location in the heart of Funchal with a traditional street outlook, offering easy access to the shops, seafront, Old Town and bus station. The apartment was light and airy with lovely large windows which could be opened or covered by shutters. It was spacious and very clean and comfortable. We also found the air conditioner/heater useful.
The bathroom facilities were very good with a decent shower, proper sized bottles of shampoo, conditioner and soap, a hairdryer and plenty of towels. (The towels and bedding were changed during our week's stay which was unexpected but appreciated).
The small fridge (with freezer compartment), kettle, microwave and a small amount of cutlery and crockery were perfectly adequate to allow catering for breakfast or supper. Bottled water, and some coffee and sugar were also provided.
The street door and apartment door had entry codes which were given before arrival making access easy and efficient. Dmitry, the owner, was always very quick to respond to any contact.
Overall, we could find little fault with the apartment and had a lovely stay.
Cons: There was some street noise from rubbish collection or shop deliveries but this was to be expected due to the apartment's location and was not too disruptive. However, for a couple of nights, the visitors in the apartment above were rather noisy in the early hours, despite the displayed notice on the stairs requesting "Quiet hours" between 9pm - 8am."
