"Pros: The view from the location was amazing. Right across a valley, lovely wildlife and very peaceful. The pool was excellent too, although the parasol umbrellas were both partially broken when we tried to put them up. There was a local festival running for the week so lots of fireworks and occasional music. Cons: Unfortunately I cannot recommend this location. We chose this location for my friends' post-wedding holiday based on the description and facilities, particularly the air conditioning throughout, as we had a 2 and 9 year old children in the group. We were advised by message on the day of arrival that there were problems with power and lighting, and there was also no television service or WiFi. Power failed twice in the first hour of us being on site, but no circuit breakers had tripped, so no way to tell where the fault had occurred. From an electrical safety point of view this should never happen. The aircon in one room was so noisy it impossible to sleep in. If more than 1 aircon was on, the power failed. On calling the owner we were told that we could only use 1 aircon unit at a time or the power would fail. The temperature was >32 C and we had a toddler in the group who could not sleep in the heat. so we had to share a room to keep the aircon on. Luckily one of our group spoke Portuguese, so was able to explain to the owner that this was not acceptable. An electrician visited the next day, and we were then able to use 2 aircon units, but the lights in the house would dim or flicker when the aircon was on. An engineer fixed the TV & Wifi the next day, then we then lost all water pressure, so someone else had to come out to fix this. We had intermittent power failures throughout the rest of the week, along with another loss of water pressure. Other issues included cracks in the bathroom tiles, lots of dead light bulbs, thousands of dead insects and droppings in the water filtration room. We contacted Booking.com support on the day we arrived to complain, but we were told that there were no other locations to move to and the owner was not prepared to offer us any form of refund or price reduction." ~Daniel
