"Pros: The house has a beautiful garden and a lot of character. Cons: Windows in my room didn’t have mosquito screens, so I had to keep the shutters closed, making it very dark and cave like. I think this is only an issue in the back rooms, so it’s worth choosing carefully. The hosts were not terribly generous - there was no welcome drink, for instance. I had to pay for bottled water (unusual in Sri Lanka), and the fried fish meal I had was overpriced (it didn’t come with rice or accompaniments) and not that nice. Although there was a kitchen, there were no basics such as salt, milk or oil." ~Brigitte
