"Pros: The location is amazing near the river. It is a friendly and family run property which is very well organized especially if you consider that they are away from the city and the access is not easy (needs a fun jeep drive). The rooms are basic but nice and clean. Cons: The rainforest trek was really expensive and the guide was not interesting. We paid 112.5 $ (33200Lkr) for 3 adults, 2 teens and a child of 11y, which is about 3 times the official prices (see pictures). We knew it but we decide to go for the one organized by the property in order to get some leeches socks and expecting a real guide who would show us the endemic species living in that rainforest... instead we were shown the common monkey, a spider, a scorpion and wild pineapple and fishtail tree which can be found elsewhere in Sri Lanka (and other countries). They push you to buy the tour telling that the guide would speak English... actually most of the official department guides do and they seem to be more interested by their job than the one we had. That experience spoiled our stay considering that this is a very special rainforest to visit with thousands of things to learn about. No problem to pay more if quality of service follows." ~Vinciane
