"Pros: We (my husband and I) stayed in the cottage for 2 nights and one thing is clear: you can't go wrong with this booking. The house is very clean and well maintained and the view from the sunny terrace is wonderful. You can tell that the house was built and maintained with a lot of love. The renovated cottage offers all the amenities you need (including a very well-functioning induction stove). You simply feel comfortable and "at home" there.
The host, Rickard, gave us a very friendly welcome. I think it is possible to spend a very peaceful and calm vacation in this cottage. However, if you want to have some good conversations and find out about the people who live here and the region, Rickard is definitely the right person to talk to. Although my husband and I are not normally the most social people and often both feel uncomfortable in long meetings, Rickard was a perfect fit from the very first moment!
The conversations with him were very open. They were not the monotonous monologues that you often hear in such situations. There was also a great interest in getting to know other people and cultures and understanding what happens in regions outside Sweden. A big plus point for Europeans: from the very first moment, there was no small talk, just an open "I wear my heart on my sleeve" attitude, which was very pleasant and refreshing.
Rickard also took us on a tour on the first evening and introduced us to "his" moose and showed us a few secret and historically relevant places in nature. Once again, we discovered something we hadn't quite expected: A very open self-image for "sharing" life's experiences.
We will definitely be back!
Cons: What's not to like! There was nothing we didn't like about it." ~Maria
"Pros: The accommodations are very comfortable. We stayed in the 1920's room, which can sleep 4, including a small child, but we were only two, so we sleep in the big bed. It was a very comfortable night's sleep. We had access to a kitchen, and were invited to cook our own dinner if we wanted. We chose to eat out, but it was nice to have the option. There was also a living room with a dining area. We had breakfast in the kitchen - the bread was freshly baked and amazing.
Britt-Marie showed me her flea market in the barn. It was fun, and I wish I had room in my luggage to take stuff home.
I stayed at Masasen's Bed & Breakfast for the purpose of finding family history, as I had traced my family's roots to Oviken. Britt-Marie arranged for me to meet with a local who helped me learn about my family and meet a relative. She set up a meeting and provided coffee and cake. This was well beyond expectations.
Cons: There was nothing that we did not like. It was a great B&B!" ~Lisa
