"Pros: Personal very frendly. The room was very cheap for a double room, but the smeel and the dirty toilet.....not sure if at the was ao cheap. Hope they can change a little this problem. Cons: The room had a strong smell to tobacco, also the toilets seems didn't clean well for long time," ~David

"Pros: The family -run hostel was very home -like and warm environment, yet private and quiet during our stay. The owners spoke little English and we don't have any Mandarin, but they were friendly and welcoming. We were upgraded to a room with two beds when the owner noted our ages!! The shared bathroom areas and common stairwell and kitchen were kept immaculately clean. There's free tea and coffee and some snacks. We felt comfortable chatting to other travellers in the common area. Excellent location near the station and main road for buses, yet quiet for sleeping. Incredibly good value and highly recommended for budget travel. Cons: Our only problem was that us oldies needed a little more floorspace and furniture for our bags etc. However we appreciated the upgrade to a two- bed room. Thanks to the management for an enjoyable stay." ~Graeme

"Pros: The room was very clean and it's a great location. You're at the perfect place to get everything you need, very close to the train station, with convenience stores and many restaurants within walking distance. The bed was comfortable, and our room had a massive shower with great water pressure and a huge Smart TV with all kinds of streaming services. In terms of quality of the room for the money, as Taiwan is notoriously expensive for lodgings, my girlfriend and I both found it quite nice. Cons: When we arrived, nobody was there. It seemed like the staff ran it like more of an apartment you stay at, which they visit from time to time. Apparently, this is kind of common in Hualien, but waiting there at the door twenty minutes after a long trip for them to arrive and then not really having reception around regularly as newcomers was strange. They were kind and helpful when we saw them, but there were quite a few times we wanted to speak to someone, and no one was around. No fridge in the room." ~Alexander
