"Pros: Great view right down to the ocean. The owner spoke good English and was very friendly and very helpful. It was very near to the walking street with all the eateries, shops, 7/11 & Family Mart. Cons: The check-in process was a bit complicated. No one on site. Make sure your phone is charged and that you have WhatsApp or a Taiwanese SIM. Breakfast was very small and disappointing. You have to climb a lot of steps to get to the chalet/ house so the location is not suitable for persons with mobility issues. It was a last-minute booking on a very busy holiday weekend, so it was expensive. Not worth it for what I got." ~Finbarr

"Pros: Excellent place to stay a night or two in Jiufen. The property itself is very easy to find, being only a two minute walk from the old street with clear signage leading you to the building. I was fortunate to have nice weather during my stay, and there was a wonderful view of Mount Keelung each time I stepped out of the front door. The facilities and room itself are very well maintained and clean, and have all the small amenities you could need. The bed is comfortable, and the Taiwanese sandwich they serve for breakfast is simple and tasty. The staff here is what made my visit exceptional. The owner and housekeeper are two of the friendliest people I've met during all my travels so far. They went out of their way when I arrived, and each morning, to help me with my itinerary - how to get to each local hike and surrounding villages, what buses and trains to take, where to eat, etc. They also offered me fresh local fruit to try.
