"Pros: Thee location on this side of the island, especially out of high season, summer is very quiet and peaceful. I could leave my window open at night to hear the sea without being disturbed. Many people hire scooters which would make travelling around the island easy. Since I didn't want to do this I found that there were just enough options of places open to eat that I could walk to, out of high season the road to the hot springs is very quiet and at night it felt safe to walk with a flashlight to the springs. What is important to know is that the owners don't speak any English and didn't respond to my English texts via Booking.com so I didn't realise that I needed to let them know which ferry I would arrive on to meet me. Also they prefer payment in cash although they did managed to take my credit card. I'd get a Mandarin or Taiwanese speaker to give them a call for you the day before you arrive. Cons: If they had replied to my messages on the booking.com app and used a translation app to let me know I needed to give them advance notice to meet me at the harbour unless I was going to make my own way by scooter, there are no taxis or public transport." ~Rachel
