The old wooden hotel was originally built in 1871 and has been visited by famous historic personalities such as Emperor Wilhelm, Queen Wilhelmina, Queen Juliana, the authors, Henrik Ipsen and Bjoernstjerne Bjoernson and the Norwegian Royal family. The historic frames and the warm atmosphere have remained in the main building of the hotel, with the old dining-room, the reception and the pub while the 29 hotel rooms are newly renovated in a similar old style. The rooms - all with toilet and shower - are placed right at the shore of the fjord with fantastic bathing and fishing possibilities and literally the most beautiful view in the whole of Norway from the doorstep. By car: Hellesylt is situated at main road no 60 between Stryn and Stranda in the county (Fylke) of Møre and Romsdal in the western part of Norway. The drive to Hellesylt on good, but winding roads with the view of mountains and fiords is a remarkable attraction in itself. By air: Several daily departures to Vigra Airport, Ålesund, from Oslo, Trondheim, Bergen and Stavanger: The airport bus leaves from Vigra Airport to Moa Bus Station from where you can go with the the Mørebil bus route no. 510. All together the trip from Vigra Airport to Hellesylt takes tree hours.
